The Solway Firth separates England from Scotland on the northern edge of Cumbria. On the Scottish side are a number of mountains in Dumfries and Galloway including Criffel, which is often prominent in views across the Firth. There are many viewpoints where you can incorporate a simple water foreground in your images or rocks, sand patterns and groynes. The area is known for its classic sunsets and I am lucky to be about 5 minutes from the coast. As with all landscape work there are many factors that you need to get to work together - usually weather, tide and aircraft contrails!
